The Millstadt Police Department recently posted the following to their Facebook page:
Several communities have received complaints about e-bikes and e-scooters. We would like for everyone to be familiar with what the laws are concerning them. There are three classifications of e-bikes:
Class 1: Pedal assist up to 20 mph.
Class 2: Throttle + pedal assist up to 20 mph.
Class 3: Pedal assist up to 28 mph.
The rules of these bikes are as follows:
Class 1 & 2: Currently no restriction on age however, effective January 1st, 2027, one must be at least 15 years of age to operate.
Class 3: Must be at least 16 years of age to operate.
No e-bikes can be operated on a sidewalk.
For E-Scooters, one must be at least 18 years of age. They are not to be operated on a sidewalk.
Also, golf carts are prohibited from driving through the village parks.
