Police Chief Shares About Annual D.A.R.E. Run for BackStoppers Coming To An End

I wanted to give an update on our annual “D.A.R.E. to Run for BackStoppers” event normally held in November. After 11 successful years the event has come to an end. I had some people inquire about it, and I felt it best to let everyone know. I want to thank everyone who has participated in the past, the volunteers, as well as all the businesses, organizations and individuals who sponsored the event. I am extremely pleased with the amount of money we raised for BackStoppers, over $75K! We also have enough funds to help provide for our youth programs into the future. If a business or an individual ever wants to donate to that particular fund, they are free to do so, and it will always be appreciated.

Many of you helped turn this annual event into one where many people from both sides of the river looked forward to and supported. We had a lot of fun doing it, and made a lot of great memories, but all good things must come to an end.

I invite you to support our community in another way by participating in the village’s annual 5K and biathlon on Sunday, September 17th. This event helps support the village’s parks which so many people enjoy.

Thank you,
Alan Hucke
Chief of Police
