6/26 – 2:08 a.m. – A Millstadt Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for disobeying the stop sign at Jefferson and Washington. The driver of the vehicle turned off the vehicle’s lights and fled. The vehicle disobeyed several stop signs in town, then went out of town on Kropp Road. The officer initially discontinued the pursuit, until the vehicle came back into town on Route 158. He lost sight of the vehicle however, an assisting Smithton Officer observed the subject run across Jefferson Street on East Adams. The Smithton Officer engaged in a short foot pursuit and was able to apprehend the suspect in the 600 block of South Mulberry Street. The suspect was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife.
After submitting the report to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office the following charges were issued:
Presley S. Ryan, 18 of Collinsville, charged with the following:
Count 1: Aggravated Fleeing (speed at least 21 miles over the speed limit); A Class 4 Criminal Felony, Category B Offense. Count 2: Aggravated Fleeing (disobeyed two or more official control devices); A Class 4 Criminal Felony, Category B Offense. Count 3; Unlawful Use Of A Weapon (possession of switchblade knife); A Class A Misdemeanor, Category B Offense.
Bond was set at $20,000.
