5/23 – 10:26 a.m. – Police responded to a 911 call for a Battery in progress. A Good Samaritan reported observing a male subject striking a female while they were parked in a vehicle in the 500 block of West Madison Street. The male left the scene on foot prior to police arrival. The responding officer determined the incident was a domestic battery. The male suspect was unable to be located at the time. Upon a thorough investigation, the case was forwarded to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office – Domestic Violence Unit, for review. On Monday the 24th the state’s attorney’s office charged the defendant, Christopher W. Sins age 31 of Millstadt, with two counts of Aggravated Domestic Battery; a Class 4 Criminal Felony, Category A Offense. The charges were Aggravated due to the defendant having previously been convicted of a domestic battery. His bond was set at $50,000. On Tuesday the 25th the defendant was apprehended by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department on a traffic stop in unincorporated Belleville.
