State Champions! 1st Time In School History

The Millstadt Panthers Baseball team won their first ever State Championship on October 10th, 2019!  The Panthers participated in the middle division in the Southern Illinois Jr. High School Athletic Association.

After defeating Red Bud for the Regional Championship, they began their quest for the title on Saturday, October 5th against Pontiac, who they beat 7-1.  They then defeated Christopher 8-3 on October 8th to put them into the championship game for the first time in school history.  Then on Thursday, the Panthers defeated Nashville 3-2 in 8 innings, on a walk-off single by John Hilpert, driving in Jake Stedman.  Jake Stedman pitched 7 great innings.  John Hilpert was also the winning pitcher, pitching a scoreless 8th inning.

The win was celebrated by an impromptu parade with a police car and fire truck leading the school bus into town.  We also celebrated with another parade on the following Tuesday afternoon.

Congratulations to all the players and to Head Coach, Rob Beatty, and Assistant Coach, Corey Muendlein.

Be sure to check out the MCS Facebook page to see the parade and pictures!
