On June 17, 2019, the Millstadt Police Department posted this information to their Facebook Page…
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of former Millstadt Police Department K9 Khaos (Badge #33), who died today, Monday June 17th. K9 Khaos served the department from 2008 till 2013. He was partnered with K9 Officer Joe Wagner, who now serves with the O’Fallon Police Department. Officers from Millstadt, O’Fallon, and Swansea Police Departments, Deputies from the St. Clair and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department’s, and several friends and family members were present at Mon-Clair Animal Hospital this morning to show Officer Wagner and his family support, as well as given the opportunity to say goodbye to Khaos one last time.
During his tenure as Millstadt’s K9, Khaos was utilized not only here, but also surrounding communities in the apprehension of suspects, the seizure of illegal drugs, the search for missing children and adults, the protection of officers by his mere presence, and in countless K9 demonstrations for various groups and schools. The community showed their support for the K9 program by donations from generous businesses and private individuals. After retirement, Khaos lived with Officer Wagner and his family, where he remained the family’s loyal companion and protector.
Thank you for your service and rest easy, K9 Khaos, we have the watch.
