Tornado Spotted In Millstadt

Spring storms have been gathering in our area this season and an odd bit of weather happened on Wednesday, June 12 around 6pm. The skies were dark and the forecast called for some thunderstorms, but nothing severe or serious. Local residents, storm spotters, and the police department confirmed that a low energy and small tornado was spotted over Millstadt. Here is some information from the Millstadt Police Department Facebook Page…

On June 12th a Millstadt Officer, along with several residents, observed a funnel cloud over the southern edge of the village. This funnel cloud appeared spontaneously, and the National Weather Service did not issue a watch or warning. The officer notified St. Clair County CENCOM, and advised them to activate the warning sirens. However, the sirens did not function properly. These sirens are tested monthly, and were functioning properly when last tested. The situation is being looked into. There may be some tests performed on the sirens today, June 13.
